Meta has once again found itself in a difficult position.
According to the latest Reuters reports, the company is forced to delay the release of its new model because it has not yet reached the frontier level. Insiders indicate that the new development slightly surpasses Gemini 2.5 but still falls short of the November version Gemini 3.0. It’s worth recalling that as of February, internal memos from leads called the Avocado model the company’s most powerful basic platform, which outperformed open-source counterparts in benchmarks.
The launch, originally scheduled for March, has now been pushed back to May or even June.
This is how it is: being Zuckerberg means spending millions and billions of dollars on talent acquisition, yet the result still turns out to be a rather mediocre product. Honestly, I feel a bit sorry for him.
