Midjourney V8 alpha — the long-awaited update from MJ is almost here!
Many have been expecting a new version, and it’s nearly available. What do the developers promise as new features?
Firstly, improved understanding of complex prompts, allowing for the creation of more accurate and meaningful images. Additionally, expanded personalization options such as sref and moodboards have been added, resulting in more detailed and cohesive images. Notably, there is a significant improvement in text rendering quality — it now looks better when written in quotation marks. And the most pleasant part is that generation speed is approximately five times faster than previous versions.
What’s important to know?
There are two new parameters: –hd with native 2K resolution and –q 4 to enhance coherence. Support for –raw, –chaos, –weird, and –exp is also included. However, using –hd, –q 4, sref, and moodboards currently increases the time and cost by about four times.
Midjourney recommends actively using long prompts for better results, as well as utilizing –raw, sref, and moodboards — this helps produce higher-quality images.
I decided to test the new features with short, simple prompts — the results were not very surprising. It seems the model is still in development.
