AI 3D Scene Generation | Explore Autodesk Flow’s Capabilities

Autodesk continues to surprise!

Once they acquired the Wonder Dynamics project and created a platform called Autodesk Flow. You can read more about it in their materials.

This system can transform recorded footage into full 3D scenes, automatically setting up cameras, character animations, facial expressions, and a whole set of elements—all within one scene. It is capable of combining multiple takes shot from different angles (wide, medium, close-up), and then artificial intelligence reconstructs a three-dimensional model from this. The scene also synchronizes the movements and positions of each camera with the characters and the environment—lighting, object movement, camera tracking.

Interestingly, the domain for Flow still works on the old link: https://app.wonderdynamics.com/. When you visit, you see new features: now there is 3D text and image generation, as well as the ability to create images from descriptions (text2image). However, on the free plan, the most accessible model is Flux 1.

Getting a bit more detail: I was immediately offered 300 free credits. Generating an image from a text prompt costs 20 credits—I submitted a description of an epic squirrel and received a rejection due to an unsuitable prompt (some restrictions). For creating 3D models, it’s also 20 credits for four options at once. Generation is not very fast; there are model choices for rendering, but on the free plan, these options are unavailable.

I received a squirrel model based on about one and a half million polygons (lots of exclamation marks in the description). However, it was without textures. After that, you can select one of four options and refine it—add textures, reduce polygon count (by specifying the desired number), choose quad-dimensions (wow!). All this costs another 20 credits.

In total, one generation costs about 40 credits. How is the quality? Let’s just say—it’s nothing special. I will show screenshots in the next post.

Compared to other modern 3D generators that include object segmentation, automatic rigging, or work with textures and symmetry—this looks quite simple. This service seems more like a product from the last century.

But it’s important to remember: all these features are bonus additions to an existing set of technologies. The prices are as follows:

– $10 per month—about 2100 credits
– $45 per month—around 6000 credits

This is a full subscription to the entire package of features. However, it’s not cheap. When it comes to mockups or video-to-3D transformation services—even with a $95 monthly subscription—you get:

– upload up to 50 custom characters
– motion capture for four people

(on the free version, you can work with a maximum of three characters).

Overall, credits are enough for testing, but personally, I wasn’t impressed with the results.

For now, it’s more interesting as an experiment or a bonus to an existing toolkit.
