In the new mode in NotebookLM Studio, Cinematic Video Overviews have been introduced, complementing the familiar Brief and Explainer options in the Customize Video Overview section.
Of course, with Google’s naming conventions, things aren’t so straightforward — confusion has arisen once again.
Previously, the Video Overview feature was more like animated presentations—short clips similar to dynamic slideshows.
Now, they’ve added real video inserts: Gemini generates prompts for videos, and Veo transforms them into full-fledged video stories.
Currently, this option is available only with an Ultra subscription — I haven’t been able to test it personally, but there are questions beyond enthusiastic reviews:
– How controllable are these inserts? Can you specify exactly where the video will be inserted and for how long?
– Is it possible to edit the prompts?
– What about pricing and credits?
Overall, it looks like a good demonstration presentation with integrated video frames (you can see an example a bit above — about five minutes long). However, the video inserts somewhat stand out from the overall style and don’t look entirely natural.
But think about it: you input any text—about anything. And the output is a detailed explanation with illustrations and clips. You can thank these dull corporate presentations and videos—and the interns forced to create them—for that. In the end, it results in something much more lively and understandable.
