Humanoid Robot Protoclone | Polish Innovation in Robotics

The Polish startup Clone Robotics has unveiled Protoclone — a humanoid robot that looks as if it’s from a very strange but almost real future.

It has no face, but inside — over a thousand synthetic muscles, five hundred sensors, tendons, and polymer bones printed with a 3D printer. In general, the robot’s internal components are almost more advanced than those of most humans.

One particularly impressive feature is the cooling system. Inside the Protoclone V1 chassis, microchannels filled with water are embedded: when under load, the water evaporates, creating a sweating effect similar to that of humans. Already now, such robots are starting to sweat, while we are still trying to understand and control the situation.

It is created based on biomimicry principles — precisely mimicking human anatomy and movements.

According to the developers from Clone Robotics, within about a year, this robot will be able to maintain balance and walk on its own legs.

And what’s special about that? The fact that it’s Polish. This means robotics development isn’t limited to the USA or China. The whole world has joined the race for advanced machine technologies, and investments can be made almost anywhere on the planet — or at least nearly everywhere.
