Fuel expenses for official vehicles will be halved over the next two months, excluding ambulances and public transportation. Additionally, use of about 60% of government vehicles involved in departmental work will be prohibited.
The government has decided to forgo salary payments for two months, and parliamentarians will reduce their allowances by 25%. Moreover, two days’ worth of salaries for high-ranking officials at BS-20 level, earning over 300,000 rupees, will also be withheld. Overall government expenditures will be reduced by 20%.
In the labor sector, a new practice is introduced: half of the employees in both the public and private sectors will be able to work remotely, and offices will operate only four days a week. Exceptions include agricultural, industrial, and banking organizations, as well as enterprises providing essential services.
Educational institutions will switch to online teaching formats, and all schools will have a two-week break starting at the end of this week. At the same time, the purchase of official vehicles, furniture, air conditioners, and other items for government agencies will be prohibited.
Restrictions are placed on foreign travel for ministers, advisors, and other officials—they may only undertake trips for genuinely important national reasons. To save fuel, preference is given to videoconferences and online meetings.
A ban has also been imposed on official dinners and Iftars. All seminars and conferences will now be held within government buildings instead of hotels.
