ByteDance has introduced a new version of its model — Seedance 1.0. It can create 5-second videos in 1080p resolution in approximately 40 seconds. The image remains sharp, characters stay stable, and transitions appear smooth. In the latest Artificial Analysis ranking, the model outperformed previous leaders — Veo 3, Kling 2.0, and Sora. To evaluate their effectiveness, the company developed the SeedVideoBench test suite, where Seedance demonstrated the best results in dynamics, query accuracy, and visual appeal. This fall, the model is planned to be integrated into the Doubao chat and the Jimeng video platform.
So, what’s the point of all this?
Seedance truly sets new standards in three main areas:
First — cost efficiency. Creating a 5-second Full HD video costs less than a static banner, meaning such short clips can be part of any product card or landing page, adding visual appeal without extra expenses.
Second — speed. The model is already being integrated into Doubao and Jimeng, so quality and revenue metrics can be expected within the current quarter — not after long testing and adjustments, but right now.
And third — new market requirements. Now, minimum standards for video generation include multi-camera scenarios, stable characters, and fast processing — ideally all within less than a minute. Anything that doesn’t meet these criteria will likely serve only as a demonstration of capabilities rather than a full-fledged product.
For a business project, this is a reason to revisit content unit economics, while for investors — a signal to focus on teams where laboratory developments are already connected to real traffic and immediate monetization.
