We are announcing the release of Hunyuan 3D version 2.1 — the first fully open-source generative 3D model implementing PBR, ready for use in professional projects.
What is PBR (Physically Based Rendering)? It’s a technology in which the appearance of 3D objects is formed based on physical laws governing light interaction with surfaces. This allows the model to produce highly realistic images, taking into account lighting and materials.
This model is capable of delivering cinematic quality: combining materials like skin or bronze, it creates very vivid and photorealistic images with rich lighting effects.
Another important point — the project is completely open. The source code, model weights, as well as training and inference pipelines — everything is available for modification and adaptation to any needs.
A key advantage — the model runs even on standard consumer graphics cards. It has been tested on an A100 GPU using Python 3.10 and PyTorch 2.5.1+cu124, but any developer or small team will be able to create high-quality 3D content without relying solely on large studios.
